State Street Names Chief Risk Officer

07/04/2008

Boston , April 7, 2008 – State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT), the world’s leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, today announced the appointment of Maureen Miskovic to chief risk officer. In this newly created senior role, Miskovic will lead a global team of more than 250 multi-disciplinary enterprise risk professionals that support State Street’s business, customers and operations worldwide. She will report to Ronald E. Logue, State Street’s chairman and CEO and join the company’s Operating Group, State Street’s senior-most strategy and policy-making team. With this announcement Miskovic will step down, effective immediately, from State Street’s Board of Directors.

“Maureen’s appointment builds on our already strong risk management culture and infrastructure,” said Logue. “State Street has achieved considerable global growth over the past five years and in creating this role, we intend to focus the intellectual capital and leadership skills of this highly experienced industry veteran to advance the strategy for our risk organization at a time of unprecedented complexity and change within the financial services industry.”

Miskovic, a British citizen, has served in a number of senior executive management roles across both business and corporate functions in leading financial organizations including Lehman Brothers, where she served as chief risk officer as well as a member of the firm’s Investment and Diversity Committees. Prior to this appointment she held the position of Treasurer at Morgan Stanley in London responsible for capital planning, bank relations and cash management for its European and Indian businesses. Before Morgan Stanley, Miskovic spent eight and a half years at S.G. Warburg in London working initially within its capital markets group and then as Group Treasurer and head of risk management. During her tenure at S.G. Warburg she was nominated to the Board of Warburg Securities.

Most recently, Miskovic served as senior advisor to the Eurasia Group, a research and consulting firm focusing on political risk analysis and industry research for global markets. She was named to NRG Energy’s board in 2005 and chaired its Commercial Operations Oversight Committee. In 2006, she was elected to State Street’s Board of Directors. Miskovic graduated from King’s College at London University.

“I’m tremendously excited by the opportunity this new role presents and to transition from the board to State Street’s senior leadership team,” said Miskovic. “This is a company that clearly understands the strategic importance of risk management and has built an outstanding team of risk professionals globally. I look forward to leading this team as we support State Street’s continued growth and global expansion.”
