Boston, November 10, 2008 — State Street Corporation, the world’s leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, today announced that it has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts by The Boston Globe in its first-ever employee-based survey.
“As one of the largest employers in Massachusetts, creating an environment in which employees feel engaged and valued is our top priority,” said Jay Hooley, president and chief operating officer of State Street Corporation. “Our top ranking in this survey is especially important given that our employees themselves voted the company to the list.”
Earlier this year State Street was also honored as one of the few companies who made the Globe 100 list for the past 20 years. The Globe 100 is the Boston Globe’s annual ranking of top-performing public companies in Massachusetts.
“All of the companies included in the Globe 100 Best Places to Work deserve a great deal of recognition. It’s clear that they value their employees and make it a priority to create a positive workplace,” said Steve Ainsley, publisher of the Boston Globe. The Top Places to Work recognizes the most progressive companies in the state based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family friendly flexibility, and values and ethics.
State Street is commitment to promoting a positive work environment for its employees with programs designed to cater to their needs. State Street’s Worklife initiative offers a number of programs and resources that are designed to assist in integrating the responsibilities of work and the necessities of employees’ personal lives. State Street’s Global Inclusion initiative aims to create an environment that promotes and supports the inclusion of people, ideas and new ways of working; fully utilizing employees’ talents and expertise; and building a global employee population that is representative of the local communities in which State Street operates. State Street is also the presenting sponsor of Massachusetts Conference for Women taking place next month.
The Top Places to Work rankings are based on survey information collected by Workplace Dynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from 120,000 employees at approximately 600 Massachusetts organizations.
